Platinum Stable receives Asian Games dressage team Indonesia

Platinum Stable had a joyful day last Wednesday. For the fifth time, they had the honour to receive the team members of the Indonesian dressage team that will compete at the Asian Games. Not only the riders came over, also the President of the National Equestrian Federation, Mr. Irvan Gading, attended the visit. Platinum Stable is the main sponsor of the Indonesian dressage team. The goal of the visit was a further acquaintance and the search for a suitable dressage horse for one of the riders. The 17th Asian Games will be held in Incheon, Korea, from September 19th until October 4th. It is seen as the most important and influential dressage competition in Asia. We interview Larasati Gading, one of the team riders and also team leader: “It is great to be here again in Riel. We are happy to meet the owners of Platinum Stable today for the fifth time since our first contact in May. The bond of mutual respect is growing and growing. Moreover, in recent months, though, things have moved ahead altogether more quickly. We had to cope with limited sources for years. With the support of Platinum Stable by means of equipment, transportation and horses, our team can now develop more efficiently.” Grand Prix rider Larasati Gading is half German, half Indonesian. She was born in Stuttgart after which the family emigrated to Indonesia. She has been training in Germany since 2000. During the last four years, Larasati is training at Team Rueben in Würselen (near Aachen). She is also the owner of the three horses that will come into action during the Asian Games. Platinum Stable will provide the fourth horse. She explains the planning towards the event: “We will make a decision about who will become the reserve rider in four weeks. The horses fly from Germany to Indonesia on the fourth of September. We then still have two weeks for training.” What is her long term goal regarding Platinum Stable? “Perhaps you have seen the soccer game of Germany against Brazil; they are a very close team. We should not aim at individual success, but work together as a team. That strengthens us all. We go for success in Korea, but already look ahead to the South-East Asian Games in 2015.” F.l.t.r.: Alvaro Menayang, Erwin M. Yoga, Michelle van Lanen (Platinum Stable), Larasati Gading, Irvan Gading, Robin Beekink (Platinum Stable), Valentino Lumentah, Ferry Wahyu Hadiyanto.

  • Different Format for 2014 Dutch Dressage Championships

Different Format for 2014 Dutch Dressage Championships

The 2014 Dutch Dressage Championships, which count as observation trial for the Dutch WEG team selection, will take place in a different format than normal. Only the scores of the Grand Prix and Kur to Music will count to determine the new Dutch Grand Prix Champion. The 2014 Dutch Championships are scheduled to take place in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands, on 30 July - 3 August, the same weekend as the 2014 European Pony Championships in Millstreet, Ireland. It has been decided that the best 12 combinations of the expected 25 participants in the Grand Prix on Friday 1 August will move straight to the Kur to Music on Sunday 3 August. All other combinations as well as the riders with their second horse will be contesting the Grand Prix Special. "We chose this format because the horses aiming for the World Equestrian Games in France are doing a lot of tests," said team trainer Wim Ernes. "Also the riders consider this a better format as it is less strenuous for the horses." • Ferguson wins trust despite young age

Ferguson wins trust despite young age

Thursday May 29th 2014 The Floriscount-son Ferguson was KWPN approved last week. With this stallion, new blood enters the Dutch breeding of dressage horses. Although the stallion is only three years old, he can already convince breeders with his exceptional qualities. We interviewed Suzanne Smeeing of Unlimited Stables from Lunteren. Together with her husband she annually breeds three to four foals. They choose Ferguson for their three-year-old prok mare Galinja (Contango x Vivaldi) uit of the damline of Tuschinski. Suzanne explains her choice for the young stallion: “We went to see all three KWPN viewing rounds. He immediatly drew our attention. The spreading of blood, his good confirmation and his nice character made us choose him.” She continues: “We enjoy using young studs for our breeding. Currently we have an offspring of Forty in our field which we bred last year. This is a product of his first year of covering. It is more exciting than if you would use a stallion that has prooven itself already. A breeder that totally agrees in this matter is Adri Zekveld of Stoeterij Sollenburg from Almere city. He explains his choice for Ferguson: “I do not like to fall behind. With the blood of Ferguson, I bring something new into my damlines. I know that these bloodlines fit my mares well.” For which mare will he use Ferguson? “We have flushed an embryo from my best mare. Her name is Astrid Sollenburg (007 x Metall). She is currently being ridden by Floor Dröge on Intermediaire I level. Just think: the mare is only eight years old. I really think she could be a future dam of an approved stallion. We have to be pacient if everything works out with the embryo but I have a lot of confidence that is will succeed”, according to Adri. Of course you will be informed about Ferguson’s offspring in the spring of 2015.
